According to Eminence GIUSTINIANO Bishop of the Nebbio 7 villages composed the Pieve of Ostriconi (Ste Marie Church). It is villages of LAMA, URTACA, NOVELLA, PAGHINA, CRUSCHINI, PALASCA, E SPELUNCHE. Today 3 of these villages are uninhabited.

Turks people, during this year, got used to make depredations in Corsica so well that in spite of their small number, they had become audacious enough to penetrate in the inside of earths, as if they had been assured to be always winners.
To the month of July, two small Turkish ships landed to the Agriateses. (they used light crafts to exert their robberies better) and disembarked about twenty Turks on the Ostriconi beach.
They waited for the night to place under cover themselves to a distance of three miglie, near an area of the NOVELLA village where peasants were going to beat their wheat, waiting for the moment where inhabitants, who returned every evening in their houses, had to descend.
And indeed, the morning early, a group of ten peasants, each with for alone arms a coresque, went down from this side. Arrived close to the place where Turks kept themselves in ambush, they got ready to flee when one among them, named Natale (which had been soldier the biggest part of his life), giving courage to others, he tells them that, if they took the flight, they would be taken infallibly and that he was better to get between hands of the Fortune and to fight with courage that to surrender as cowardly and to die in slavery.
Words of Natale produced such an effect and such a force on its mates that, turning against the enemy and fighter valiantly during one hour against Turks who finally tried to retire, their boldness grew so that, pursuing them until the beach, they took them 9 prisoners. They had themselves 2 men injured (but without peril for their life) one called Francesco and the other Pasqualino.

The parochial church of St Cosmo and Damiono of CRUSCIANI, distant a mile is abandoned, this being, a part of the population goes to PALASCA and the other to NOVELLA. However, it would seem that they want to return to frequent their church; this one and standing, very covered and maintained, the rector of NOVELLA is going to say the Mass there once per week.
When, was the village abandoned however, the sacred objects of the church were taken in part by Luc Antonio di CRUSCANI that went to live to PALASCA ? and the other part came back to the rector of NOVELLA. The last rector of CRUSCANI, defunct P. GIUDICELLO di FELICETO, which abandoned the cure and after 3 years the population abandoned the village, and during these 3 years the rector of NOVELLA served on order of the bishop ; then its was managed by the brother Laurenzio PALASCA as simple servant, but contested by the vicar of NOVELLA, after the death of PALASCA the administration comes back to the canonical COSTA.

An act established by the notary Ruggero MONTI di Palasca regulating the sharing of the old village of Cruschini while allocating the two third of his territory to Palasca, inflamed minds novellais that went in open struggle against Palasca.

This year our yearly feast has been celebrated with a lot of burst and liveliness. From the Saturday 6 October our charming village had taken the aspect of one day of feast. Indeed one saw on the place of the church several various games installed by different fairground merchants come of all points of the department.
The village was animate, everybody had fun to his manner, dance and other various fun didn't stop to reign during days of the Sunday and the Monday, everybody is given has himself heart joy of it.
Strangers have been enchanted with the cordial welcome that the population of Novella reserved them.
The religious service was to the over of all eulogy thanks to the activity deployed by our worthy and venerated vicar M Orsini all happened with pump. The big Mass of the Sunday has been sung solemnly by MESSRS Massiani Laurent, Trojani Donat and Massiani Jean Joseph. The organ was kept by M Orabona notary. The Mass of Monday has been sung by M Martin on air of Dermont . All visitors marveled of a similar religious service.

Departure to 6h 32 of the morning. Arrived to Novella to 9 heures32. Returned to Bastia by the last train of in the evening for people who would not want to stay to Novella until the 8. AT 10 o'clock precise, big Mass in music, procession. At 2 o'clock, solemn vespers, sermon, salute " Te Deum ". Miss Massiani Flora of Saint Florent and Massiani Géromine of Novella will make the quest. To the date of next October 3, this little but coquettish village situated on a verdant nipple dominating the sea will celebrate its yearly and employer's feast Our Lady of the Rosary.

Indeed since the Saturday, one can see to space out on the big place of the church several fairground merchants installed there with their various games or all the youth himself gives give back yourselves. Outside of all numerous and varied distractions, the religious program is of most imposing. The abbot Orsini , since 22 years that he exercises at us, is one is not able to the height of his/her/its task and the religious ceremonies anymore make themselves thanks to him all as to the use of the big cities of the metropolis.
