Born on the french continent as my father Antoine (in MARSEILLE), it is my wife, Geneviève, passionate of genealogy that recovered the village of my forebears in CORSICA.
Since my first travel toward the island of Beauty, this so particular and strange feeling of «déjà vu» hugged my soul and my body : I arrived on the earth of mine, as if I had only left it since the last holidays…
After a visit to the village of ERSA where my grandfather Charles was born, I discovered
NOVELLA where was descended "my" PADOVANI's, and notably Charles' father, Jacques Antoine PADOVANI, of which the profession of teacher had driven him to CAMPITELLO, then ROGLIANO and ERSA, getting married between time (in 1885 to BASTIA) with Anna Michelette ANTONI, girl of the famous captain Joseph Marie ANTONI, shipwrecked victim on the " Frédéric" in the harbor of BASTIA in 1882.
Therefore, Jacques Antoine, born in NOVELLA in 1855, was the son of Martin PADOVANI and Marie Joséphine MASSOLA, the first of my forebears to have remained to the village.
This famous village that no one couldn't reach at this time yet, toward 1985, that by small sinuous roads that seemed to delay the moment to reach him indefinitely.
We took some pictures and we have prayed in the church and the cemetery, while thinking that all a big family had filled streets, fields, monuments of all their life with their joys and their pains. It was indeed very moving. We were not able, to meet of possible «cousins», at this time.
It is only now that Geneviève, after long works, managed to establish the genealogy of the PADOVANI's of NOVELLA, as well as the one of all other families of the village, from 1714 to our days :
MASSIANI, ORABONA, VALENTINI, BELGODERE, BONAVITA, EMMANUELLI, NAPOLEONI, PAOLI, COLONNA, for the most ancient patronymeses…
For it, she had some fruitful and very nice exchanges with Miss Anne Marie ORABONA, Jean Louis MASSIANI, the elected and the secretary of town hall of NOVELLA.
She has in project to achieve paintings of all families, so the Novellais would discover all latticed links of their forebears that make them be… all cousins, closely or from afar…
So the particular charm of this village, to the shelter of hills of the
Ostriconi's valley, and facing the infinite of the sea, ornamented of the cordial welcome of villagers as well as the genealogical work of my wife, pushed programmer's instinct to create this site (dedicated to the village of my forebears and my family mainly) to communicate my enthusiasm and to share these happy moments of discovery with all Novellais and those that have in the world a link of relationship with our village, or with my patronyme :
it is my modest contribution to the life of the village, to the future of NOVELLA….
